Buddhist Education for Schools and Colleges

Bodhi Tree supports the teaching of Religious Education and general spiritual development by providing interactive and enjoyable workshops in Buddhism for students of all ages.

We host visits to the London Buddhist Centre in Bethnal Green, London and go out to schools and colleges.

We offer:

• assemblies, workshops and visits for school children in all Key Stages, helping teachers to meet the requirements of their RE Agreed Syllabus
• talks, seminars and workshops for students of Sixth Form and Further Education colleges
in-service training for teachers and sessions for student teachers

Our workshops are designed to:
• suit your needs
• help students to develop their understanding of Buddhism
• enhance their spiritual and moral development
• encourage reflection on ethical issues
• be relevant to pupils’ own experience

Typical themes are:
• stories from the life of the Buddha
• the Five Precepts, karma and personal responsibility
• mindfulness and loving kindness
• ‘Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels’
• Buddhist lifestyles in the West

Typical workshop elements:
- short talks
- the telling of a story from the Buddhist tradition
- interactive exercises and drama or improvisation
- discussion about the story or theme
- teaching meditation appropriately for the age group
- question and answer session
